There is something incredibly beautiful about watching a family take in this brand new life together. The way mom and dad look at each other, siblings studying every little feature, the expressions and movements you don’t even realize you’ll miss until they’re gone. My newborn photography sessions are intentionally relaxed and centered around your baby and your family as you are in that moment. Rather than forcing every baby into the same poses, I adapt to what they need and focus on genuine connection, emotion, and all of those in between moments. Because I’m not only thinking about how these photographs will feel when you see them next week. I’m thinking about the day, decades from now, when you’re showing them to your grandchildren and remembering exactly what this season felt like.
A Newborn Session Built Around Your Baby
No two babies are the same, and I don’t believe newborn photography should follow the exact same formula for every family. I take a more natural, baby led approach, adapting the session around what your baby needs that day. Sometimes that means stopping for a feeding, taking a little extra time to settle them, or changing what we’re doing completely because they’re happiest in your arms. I’m not focused on forcing your baby into a long list of perfect poses. Instead, I want to photograph their natural expressions, the way they curl into you, their tiny movements, and the moments happening naturally between everyone in the room. We’ll take our time and let your baby set the pace.
Moments Between the Poses Matter, Too
Some of my favorite newborn photographs aren’t necessarily the ones we planned. They’re the way a big brother or sister looks at the baby in complete wonder, the quiet moments between mom and dad, or the expressions that happen when everyone forgets for a second that there’s a camera in the room. There is so much genuine love surrounding a new baby, and getting to witness families in that season is one of the things I love most about newborn photography. These sessions are about preserving more than what your baby looked like. I want you to remember how it felt to hold them when they were this small and what your family looked like as you were all getting to know this brand new little baby.

Your newborn session can take place in your own home or at Sunroom Studio in downtown Waco, and both options create a completely different kind of experience. An in home newborn session allows us to photograph your family in the place where these first memories are actually happening, from the nursery you prepared to the couch where you’ve spent countless hours feeding and holding your baby. A studio newborn session gives us more versatility with natural light and a beautiful, simple space without having to prepare your house beforehand. There’s nothing to clean, organize, or get ready. You can simply pack up your baby, show up, and we’ll take it from there. Whichever you choose, the focus stays on your family rather than creating a perfectly styled space.
Slow Down and Remember This Part
As a mom of four, I know firsthand how unbelievably quickly the newborn stage passes. I also know that getting everyone dressed, out the door, and ready for photographs with a brand-new baby can feel like a lot. There is no need to rush once you get here. I have plenty of patience, and we can stop as often as your baby or your family needs. More than anything, I want to create photographs that become more meaningful with time. I’m thinking beyond the gallery you’ll open a few weeks after your session and toward the photographs your children will someday hold, the ones you may show your grandchildren decades from now. And as your baby grows, we can continue telling that story through maternity, newborn, milestone, and first-year photography so you have more than one moment from a season that moves entirely too fast.
The newborn stage is only the beginning. As your baby grows, milestone sessions give you a way to remember all the changes that seem to happen overnight, from those first expressions and gummy smiles to sitting, standing, and eventually celebrating their first birthday.
